1. How do I get started with HealthTalent?
To get started with HealthTalent, you will need to submit an application to HealthTalent. When you submit your application we will review your nursing credentials and conduct an interview to insure you are a qualified professional and experienced nurse. After the initial review the Immigration Nurse Recruiter will contact you regarding certificate requirements for visa sponsorship.
2. What are the requirements to start working with HealthTalent?
The criteria to become a nurse in the US is:
- A degree from an accredited nursing program in your country
- A CGFNS certificate or pass the NCLEX exam
- IELTS pass or equivalent
- Two years of clinical experience in your specialty by the time you arrive in the USA. If you do not have this experience, your Nurse Recruiter can discuss your options and will explain what you will need to do to become eligible.
HealthTalent will work with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to obtain a green card for you (see more about the Steps to Working in the U.S.).
3. Am I under any obligation when I submit an application?
No. Your application is simply used to qualify our requirements, so that if and when you are ready, we can match you with an assignment. Once your credentials are verified, you will have the opportunity to explore available assignments, or to proceed with the visa sponsorship process.
4. When do I start to prepare for an assignment?
The lead-time for international nurses wishing to work in the U.S. is considerably longer due to the immigration approval process. Your recruiter will be able to provide guidelines based on available assignments and the current immigration processing times.
5. Is there a fee to enroll for a placement on an assignment or visa sponsorship?
No. There is never a fee to enroll for placement on assignments or a fee for visa sponsorship.
6. How does HealthTalent stay in business if they don't collect fees?
We provide a service to hospitals and clinics by staffing dedicated professional nurses to fill temporary positions. Fees to our clients allow us to pay top wages and benefits to our nurses while providing those highly skilled employees so hard to find in today's job market.
7. What are the benefits of becoming a HealthTalent nurse?
HealthTalent nurses are among the most highly paid in the nursing industry. Each assignment is different depending on location, length of assignment and specialty needed. For more detailed information on compensation and benefits contact us at +1 (866) 856-9494 or +1 (970) 927-1503.
8. How much will I be paid and how often?
Pay rates depend on the facility and location, however they will be competitive by region. Nurses are also eligible for an annual bonus. Nurses may choose to have their paycheck directly deposited into an account or receive their paychecks every two weeks via overnight mail. All of these details will be made clear long before you are accepted for sponsorship.
9. How long are the contracts?
For international nurses coming to work in the U.S., there is a required minimum commitment period since HealthTalent will be sponsoring your green card. For more information, contact us at (866) 856-9494 or (970) 927-1503.
10. How do I start an assignment?
Once you are ready to immigrate, you and your assigned Nurse Recruiter will discuss the assignment options.
11. Will there be an assignment anywhere I want to go?
Not always, however, you may request a specific location to be assigned to after you have fulfilled your first assignment. If we don't have your specific position in the location of your choice, we will contact facilities in that area to present your credentials and search for an available assignment.
12. What happens when I accept an assignment?
A copy of your resume and skills checklist with your selected start date, unit, and shift will be sent to the facility for their review, along with a time for the facility to call you or meet you for an interview. Prior to the interview, it's a good idea to prepare a list of any questions you may have about the unit in which you'll be working. We want you to be comfortable with your assignment from the very beginning.
13. How long will it take to be approved and choose an assignment?
For international nurses, once you pass your NCLEX exam and obtain your visa (see Steps to Working in the U.S.), you can begin as soon as you are in the U.S. Again, it is important that you take the first step and submit your application to allow us time to verify your credentials.
14. How will HealthTalent prepare me for my assignment?
Once you have decided on the assignment that's right for you, your Staffing Coordinator will confirm your start date, shift, unit and salary. Shortly thereafter, you will receive an employment agreement. HealthTalent will help you secure housing within proximity to your place of work. We have a US adaptation and community integration program to help you integrate with your new environment. Our clinical instructors will support you through you hospital orientation. All you need to do is pack your bags!
15. How do I get to my assignment?
Housing is located near public transportation so that it is convenient to reach the facility from your place of residence.
16. How do I find out about and qualify for license requirements in the state in which I accept an assignment?
Your Nurse Recruiter will advise you on the specific requirements and the length of time necessary to obtain a license in the state you have chosen to take an assignment. In some states, the procedure is lengthy, so you will need to plan ahead. Find out more about RN State Licensing information.
17. What happens at the end of my employment agreement?
After you have completed your agreement requirements, you have the option to continue working for HealthTalent as a travel nurse and travel to another exciting assignment, apply for a permanent position at the facility, or return home, perhaps to seek another assignment again at a later date.
18. Can I travel with family and friends to my assignments?
Yes, traveling with another health care professional, spouse, or any close friend will allow you to share the travel experiences of a lifetime.
19. What about housing at my new assignment?
You will be asked to complete a housing preference questionnaire. Based on your answers our Housing and Travel Department will make all the arrangements for you. We pride ourselves on making your home away from home the very best available in the industry. With safe, comfortable, attractive apartment complexes located as near as possible to your assignment. Your apartment will come with a standard furniture package and utilities all pre-arranged for you. You may upgrade the furniture package or request a housewares package that we can coordinate at your expense. We will support you all the way through the process of signing your first apartment lease.
