Nevada

L A S V E G A S

There’s no place on earth like Las Vegas. While on assignment you will find an unlimited variety of entertainment, sightseeing, special events, shopping and dining, among many other activities. In addition, Las Vegas has many other things to offer, including amusement parks and theme rides, museums, and great outdoor locations to enjoy golfing, boating, hiking, bicycling, rock climbing, car racing, and even snow skiing. There are many outdoor wonders close to Las Vegas, from the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, Spring Mountain Ranch State, Mount Charleston, Hoover Dam, Lake Mead, and the Grand Canyon (Arizona) if you want to venture out a little farther.
From the neon lights and fabulous hotel resorts of the Las Vegas Strip to the peaceful hiking trails of Mount Charleston and Valley of Fire, the Las Vegas Territory offers an endless supply of fun and excitement.

RENO-TAHOE

From magnificent Lake Tahoe – which Mark Twain once called “the fairest picture the whole earth affords” – to historic Virginia City, site of one of the West’s greatest mining booms, the Reno-Tahoe Territory contains many of Nevada’s most scenic and historic recreation areas.
While on assignment you can check out Pyramid Lake, a remnant of a prehistoric inland sea that once covered much of Nevada, the casinos and entertainment of Reno and Sparks, the historic 19th-century community of Virginia City complete with wooden sidewalks and false front saloons, Carson City’s museums and architecture, or the gem of the Sierra Nevada mountain range, Lake Tahoe – one of the clearest and deepest lakes in the world.

COWBOY COUNTRY

Since the mid-19th century, the Humboldt River has defined Northern Nevada’s Cowboy Country. The river stretches more than 300 miles across the upper third of the state, paralleling Interstate 80.
Cowboy Country celebrates both the old and new West, where the traditional and the modern can live side-by-side. Check out resort towns like Elko and Winnemucca, the East Humboldt Range, Angel Lake - one of the state’s most picturesque lakes, casinos, the Jarbidge Wilderness Area, the Ruby Mountains, and a host of other locations that present amazing indoor and outdoor adventures.

P O N Y EXPRESS TERRITORY

Open range, endless vistas, sagebrush-carpeted valleys, and picturesque mining towns – few places capture the Nevada experience as well as the Pony Express Territory. Pony Express Territory is a land of untrampled natural wonders and charming mining towns that still look much as they did more than a century ago.
While on assignment, visit the Great Basin National Park - home of ancient bristle cone pines, the Lehman Caves - offering fantastic displays of stalactites and stalagmites developed over hundreds of thousands of years, Eureka - one of the best- preserved 19th-century mining towns in Nevada, Austin and the surrounding Toiyabe, Toquima and Hot Creek mountain ranges – great spots for mountain biking and enjoying untouched landscapes, the Sand Mountain - a unique two-mile-long, 600-foot-high sand dune that appeals to sand buggy enthusiasts, dirt bikers and sand skiers, and if you still have time visit the Grimes Point Archeological Site - a trail lined with rock drawings made by native people who lived in the area between 5,000 B.C and 1,500 A.D.

P I O N E E R TERRITORY

Ghost towns and historic mining towns dot the wide-open spaces of Nevada’s Pioneer Territory. Such vestiges of the legendary Old West are plentiful in this south-central Nevada region of vast scenic vistas, geologic wonderlands, and the state’s ever-present mountains. Mountain Bike and animal watch in the Toiyabe and Toquima ranges, visit old Ghost towns like Gold Point, Grantsville and Rhyolite, enjoy the rich history of old mining towns like Pioche, Goldfield and Tonopah, or just relax and enjoy the beautiful golf courses and Pahrump Valley Vineyards.
Natural attractions abound in Pioneer Territory, including Death Valley National Park, two national wildlife refuges: Pahranagat, and Ash Meadows, famous for the mysterious Devil’s Hole and its tiny endangered pupfish; and nine state parks, recreation areas and historic sites: Cathedral Gorge, Echo Canyon, Beaver Dam, Berlin-Ichthyosaur, Spring Valley and Kershaw-Ryan state parks; Belmont Courthouse and Fort Churchill state historic sites and Walker Lake state recreation area.
